Hello, dear Open Heart Project,
There are times when it can be difficult to know how to respond to what is happening around us.
When fear, division, and violence are so present in our shared experience, it is understandable to feel overwhelmed or uncertain about what to do. We may want to help, but not know where to begin.
This is one reason I keep returning to the Noble Eightfold Path.
Today, I’m sharing the first talk in a previously recorded series on the Eightfold Path that follows up on our conversation about the Four Noble Truths.
The teachings on the Eightfold Path offer a way to stay with what is happening without turning away, and to meet it with honesty, compassion, and courage.
If you’d like to go deeper, I explore the first step of the path in Episode 42 of Buddhism Beyond Belief, The Noble Eightfold Path: Step One: Seeing Clearly.
These teachings offer a way to stay with what is happening without turning away, and to meet it with honesty, compassion, and courage.
I’d love to hear what you think.
Much love,
Susan
PS: We started this conversation with the first, second, and third of the Four Noble Truths.
