Hello Wonderful Open Heart Project,

Sometimes the best way to deepen practice is to begin at the beginning.

The Buddha’s first teaching was the Four Noble Truths. Though I’ve been studying them for decades, I still hear something new every time I return to them. The teachings may be familiar, but my life has changed, and I can hear them differently.

In this week’s practice, we return to the First Noble Truth and consider impermanence. This can be a difficult truth to accept, so I share a couple of stories from real life to illustrate how to work with this concept. You can actually start by noticing where you resist it and accepting that you cannot accept it.

I’d love to hear your stories from your world when it comes to impermanence. Comment below.

Love,
Susan

Hello Susan! Thank you for sharing your truth and being so transparent to all of us to help us be honest with ourselves. I had a paralyzing fear of death for 22 years, until I had an unbelievable experience when my dog passed away that has given me vision into the eternal life that I believe all of us Beings have. I am sad when a loved one leaves Earth physically, selfishly, but I now have a permanent connection with all of my loved ones once they have moved on to their next adventure! This knowing this has allowed me to live so much more fully, bravely, with much more compassion.
