When the actor met the Monk.
April 7, 2011 | 24 CommentsA fantastic story from one of my very favorite radio shows ever, The Moth. I laughed. I cried. I fell further in love with the dharma, as if that were possible. Apparently, it is.
Only about 7 minutes long–totally worth a listen. Even with the truly dreadful “Tibetan” accent.

Susan: check your link for the above. It says File Not Found.
Thanks so much for pointing this out. Should be fixed.
I listened. And it’s done. But I’m still smiling… Definitely worth a listen as you suggest.

You’re so welcome, Maria! I can’t stop listening to it myself.
PS at SMC right now for a writers’ retreat. miss you!
Glad I stopped back by. I, too, will have to listen to it again. Thanks.
I loved this story, Susan, and just happened to meet a monk this weekend at the Trappist Monastery in Kentucky, who had quite the impact on me. He sleeps outside on a porch every single night (yes, in Kentucky and he’s 67!), gets up at 2:40 a.m. for prayer, and is in bed by 8. He is a cook, loves to sing, writes poetry, photographs and exudes serenity.
Cool!!
Susan,
