Hello Wonderful Open Heart Project,

It’s no secret that many forces are competing for your attention, especially online. Some are noble and righteous. Some are not.  Trying to track it all is…exhausting.

The need for boundaries for our hearts and minds has never been more important. We must preserve our energy so that we can continue to care.

Meditation helps establish mental and emotional boundaries. This is not about bypassing. It is about retaining life force to fight the good fight.

It’s important not to let your mind be co-opted, to say “no,” loudly and clearly.

One of the most rebellious things you could do right now is reclaim your attention.

Please have a listen to this talk to learn more.

I’d love to hear what you think.

Love,
Susan

PS: Please check out my new book, Inexplicable Magic: Meditation for Mystics. It offers seven principles of meditation as a spiritual practice (rather than self-help).

PPS: If sitting together sounds supportive to your practice, please join the Open Heart Project sangha. We have a live meditation practice every morning.

    This. Was. So. Good.
I wish I could send this to everyone I know that is floundering and searching, spiritually bereft. You have beautifully crystallized the value of meditation.
    Thank you!

Excellent response Lisa! I so agree with everything you wrote. I will be holding onto this video for inspiration in the future.

Yes 🙌 I have withdrawn my attention from the chaos and confusion. I keep my mind on my little corner of the world. I still show up to protest, write letters, and give what I can, and I protect my boundaries. These boundaries have allowed me to shed the rageful and retaliatory energy I had been carrying- it was hurting me in body, mind, and spirit. Now, I am at peace. I am thriving unconditionally. I know what is happening around, and I choose to focus on what is going right, what I love about my country, and what I love about our constitution and bill of rights. When I reclaim my attention, I feel I am protesting in the most effective and efficacious way. 💙🌈💙

This: our attention is the currency that everyone is competing for.
What a great way to put it. We hear about getting “eyeballs on the page,” and this is what that really means.
As always, your talk is so inspiring.
    Love
