Hello, Open Heart Project.
Last week, we talked about the seventh step on the Noble Eightfold Path, Right Mindfulness. This week we reach the eighth and last step of the Noble Eightfold Path, Right Concentration.
In Buddhist practice, concentration starts simply: you rest your attention on the breath, notice when your mind wanders, and bring it back. This has more to do with letting go than trying harder.
I truly hope this exploration of foundational teachings of Buddhism has been supportive for you. Please let me know what you learned, discovered, or were surprised by. I always love to hear from you!
Love,
Susan

I appreciate your commitment to this project and how glad I am for your effort. I do enjoy the feeling of meditative absorption you spoke on last time. Lately, I have been learning to forgive its absence. I mean for instance, I was upset I put the bleach in with not the sheets, but the darker colors at the Laundromat.
My absorption on that lapse of personal concentration was shorter this time than usual-that is a whole lot of regretful self criticism and unnecessary effort in my head I am happy to let go of.
