Feelings are not problems, they are breadcrumbs to the truth

Hello Wonderful Open Heart Project,
There is a great deal happening in the world that can leave us angry, heartbroken, and overwhelmed. Meditation is not about getting rid of those feelings. It is about learning to work with them without hardening our hearts or losing touch with our shared humanity.
One of the most important lessons of practice is to begin with what is true. If you feel anger, start there. If you cannot find compassion, start there. We do not need to pretend to be wiser or kinder than we are.
These are some of the themes in my new book, Inexplicable Magic: Meditation for Mystics. It is about meeting the circumstances of everyday life with the steadiness of practice, not by escaping difficulty but by learning to relate to it differently.
I hope it offers some support.
With love,
Susan

Thanks for your talk today. I was able to see how much h I have learned over the years because I understood your point. What was new for me was that I don’t have to pretend that I don’t have feelings of malice. And can stop berating myself when I notice them.
Thank you Susan, for giving us a practice. I enjoy listening to your words and insights and taking the time to sit with others, even tho virtually.
Best to you, Patty
Thank you for your teaching today. I appreciate your sense of humor and the way you explain these important principles.
