When it’s hard to be generous to others…

Hello, wonderful Open Heart Project. I hope you are well and I send you my love.
Before today’s sit, I share a few thoughts about the first paramita (transcendent action) which is generosity. The remaining transcendent actions–discipline, patience, exertion, meditative absorption, and wisdom–would not be possible without some sense of your own richness and indestructible kindness. But when times are difficult (aka now), these qualities seem to move away from us. It does not have to be this way. Please have a listen and see what you think.
Stay strong! Stay beautiful!
With love,
Susan

Thank you so much for your kind generosity, Susan! Love the way you approach the Paramitas.
You are so welcome, Luc.

K dramas! What an unlikely vehicle for these lessons. Love it!
K Dramas have it all!
Thank you.
you are so welcome.
Ooh thank you brilliant as ever.
Is it ok if one is shattered to meditate lying down.
Why is it so much more powerful when sitting 🤔 up ☺️
Thank you 🙏
thank you! yes, it’s okay to practice lying down when you need to. and i share your question… <3 S
Thank you 🙏
I appreciated your comment on finding a strong and stable place within in order to practice generosity.
Also that when we are not in that place of strength to just be aware of it and offer compassion and generosity toward our self. Thank you.🙏
you are so welcome.
This is a new nuance on fearlessness for me. I hope that I’m understanding correctly, that it’s walking the talk, not only encouraging others who might be fearful or in danger, but being fearless oneself as a protector. That makes sense. How can I support others if I am not grounded in my own basic goodness and strength? This understanding takes the teaching into empathy in action – feeling what the other is feeling, standing with them, adding my strength generously. Talk about courageous!
Yes! To all points. <3 S
Susan, thank you! Given that S Korea is officially, I believe, a majority Buddhist country (please correct me if I am wrong), I have often thought it would be great to hear your analysis of the extent to which, and how, some key Buddhist tenets are expressed through K-drama content. I am delighted that this may actually be possible! I would love it if you would do an extended discussion of this. Thank you for all that you do. PS Have you watched, ‘Romance is a Bonus Book’?
Thanks for the awesome suggestions! For teaching and viewing! I have not seen the show you mention but I will make sure I do. xo S
