Can’t quite figure out how to register with HuffPo, but the 2 self help books that totally changed my life were/are The Mindfulness and Acceptance Workbook for Anxiety and the Mindfulness & Acceptance workbook for Depression.
I really can’t recommend them enough for people with either or both issue. I still go back to them when I feel myself getting anxious or depressed and thinking “oh, no, we can’t have these feelings.”
One of my favorite quotes from the CD is “the goal is not to feel better, the goal is to get better at feeling everything you feel.”
Such a simple reminder, but so huge.

wisdom of the ages by wayne dyer. this was the first “self-help” type book i ever read, and it was given to me by my uncle who wrote “happy forever, love uncle charles” on the inside cover. it was the first time i realized spiritual growth was mine for the taking. i think it was a gift for my 30th birthday and i remember just being in awe and totally excited about everything explored in the book. it was the first time i realized i was a work in progress….

The Artists Way – Julia Cameron — read it when it first was published and re-read it annually, never loses it’s catalyst-effect.

the audio series by author Carolyn Myss: The Language of Archetypes … whoa … still listen when I’m in my studio, broke my concepts of everything open.

Really enjoying your latest posts and meditation instruction, Susan! Richard Rohr, Discovering the Enneagram. Christian perspective but not sectarian or preachy. He’s a flaming One so for me his tone is useful. 🙂

Thanks, Carol! It has been a lot of fun figuring out how to do this.

I liked Rohr’s book when I read it. Must reread–thanks for the suggestion.

Are you a 1? Everyone in my life is a “flaming one!” parents, husband…there’s something i just love about that energy, apparently.
