My friends got married!

And I got to write a poem for my beloved Ming and Kate.
Say Yes
First, contemplate the Great Eastern Sun.
Say yes.
Then establish the palace of touch.
With delight, unbind the yes of that sweetness again and again,
And may that delight produce future warriors.
Say yes.
Then establish the palace of go.
Mercilessly, with the yes of sadness and the yes of daring,
Holding the other’s gaze,
Unblinking,
Release hands
And begin again.
Say yes.
Within that, arrange the throne of the Queen.
The Queen who says yes to yes.
Yes to no.
Yes to more.
Yes to less.
Yes to irritation.
Yes to forgetting what yes even means.
Yes to touch and
Yes to go.
Yes to this day on which the joy of yes anoints all the yeses to come.
So say we all:
With you,
To you,
And for you:
Yes.

Beautiful! YES!
Oh, what a fantastic poem! Congrats, Ming and Kate!
Such powerful and beautiful words. Gorgeous couple, too!
isn’t it amazing how, despite being of the same gender, there are those man y narrow minded groups who would push to NOT allow these two the same goals, affirmations and need for love, all legally binding, that are afforded most others? may they have many happy yrs together.
perfectly said. all the loveliness, wonder and letting-go knitted into three letters of acceptance…
