It’s still important to dream. Meditation can actually help make a better world.

Hello, wonderful Open Heart Project.

Before today’s sit, I continue the conversation begun a few weeks ago to discuss how we view meditation in the OHP. (It’s different from most views!) The first point was We Engage in Daily Ritual. The second was We Live as Mystics (Hiding in Plain Sight). The third was The Personal is Not the Obstacle—It is the Way and the most recent was The Meaning and Power of Heartbreak. If you want to go back and watch, feel free! But it is not necessary.

Today, I want to move on to another important aspect of our meditation practice: It encourages us to dream on behalf of others. In a dream-starved world where it can seem impossible and even frightening to allow visions of a good, sane, just world to take shape, we can still continue to imagine and, possibly, bring that world into being. When we imagine beyond insanity, it supports others to do so as well.

Don’t take my word for this! Have a listen and let me know what you think.

With love,
Susan

    Dear Susan,another wonderful meditation.
    Thank you
I did enjoy seeing your cats when they came to visit the meditation space.
It is tricky for me to have a cat here.
But I still long for one.
May it not be too long before another beautiful feline comes to find you.
    Love Jane ☺️

Oh dear Susan, I was not aware you lost BOTH of your sweet cats. To grieve one is heartbreaking, but to grieve two in such a short amount to time is soulbreakiing. I hope your time in Austin and swimming in Barton Springs helps you find some solace and healing.

Thank you, Jen. My heart hurts so much. I am in Austin now and swimming is so healing for me, I appreciate that you know this! Love always, Susan

Dear Susan, I’m in awe of how you continually “Open your Heart” to us with sharing your personal journey with your deepening the teachings. Today I felt the importance of dreaming as you spoke. We lose if we lose our soul, our longing for happiness for ourselves and for others and our hopefulness for a brighter future for all…humans, the natural world and the magic that can be elusive. At times I do feel despair. But especially when I listen to you, that despair lifts. You have such a gift. Thank you.

Oh no, oh no, oh no, I’m broken hearted to learn that your second cat passed away. I have some inkling of what they meant to you. I’m so sorry for your losses. Please leave all your doors and windows open and let some insanely lucky feline creature find a home with you.
With much love and appreciation, Maggie

Oh Maggie. I can feel your empathy and tenderness (for me and for all cats) in every word here. I am very grateful.

It hurts so much, it is shocking. But kind words from friends actually help. Thank you. With love, Susan

    Dear Susan,
Thank you for sharing so honestly and compassionately, your open heart. Your tears are shared regarding the state of our current world, and especially shared regarding your cats. I have suffered the heartbreak of the death of many of my cats and it is always wrenching. Today I cry for you , with you, and at the same time feel the profound joy you describe when the heart is open to all of it…joy and sorrow.
    Big love to you.
    Cindi Harrison
P.S. I am simply amazed that such a short time since hip surgery, you are able to sit, legs crossed and body steady! YOU are the bomb!!

Thank you, thank you, Cindi. It is truly wrenching, just as you say. Your words move to want to share this from Chokyi Nyima:

      Deep sadness, because nothing lasts.
Fervent love, because all beings are my beloved family.
Lucid openness, because this ordinary mind is full awakening.
Sheer joy, because all of this is true.

So it is. And PS I too am amazed at the progress after hip surgery! I’m very, very grateful, whatever the reason. <3

I’m so sorry about both of your cats. I always enjoyed them wandering into your videos for pets and purring into the mic. It’s heartbreaking to lose a pet. Thank you for sharing your tears. I cried with you. It’s been such an awful month and I’m finding it calming to hear your voice lead me through this ritual every night. I’m grateful for that.

    • Posted by:  Susan Piver

I’m grateful too, Jeanne. It means everything to be able to practice (and cry) together. With love, Susan
