Dear, wonderful Open Heart Project,
I have three basic suggestions for how Buddhist wisdom can help with heartbreak. Two weeks ago, we talked about the first step which involves figuring out how to work with your racing or clouded mind. Last week, I made suggestions for working with the overwhelming energy of the heart. This week, I share some thoughts about how heartbreak can introduce us to a deeper way of viewing life that leads to more vitality and a greater capacity to love.
Thoughts? I love to hear from you!
With love, Susan

Dear Susan,
I lost my dad three days ago. We were very close and it’s so hard.
Your words reach me today when I need them the most. Thank you ❤️
I’m so sorry to hear this, Nina. Sending so much love and deepest prayers for his ease.
❤️ Thank you, Susan.
You’re very welcome, Nina.
Thank you Susan for your heartfelt words. I lost my 20 year old daughter a few years ago and feel the heartbreak daily. I’ve been working on my thoughts, practicing loving kindness, and acknowledging the deeper meaning I bring to my interactions with others. I really appreciate your openness and willingness to talk about deep subjects. Your care for others and humility shines through.
Katherine, I can’t imagine what this pain must be like. I appreciate you working with your mind and heart — what courage you have. With love and respect, Susan
Thank you for sharing this teaching Susan. It seems that if we all have broken hearts then we really need to be aware of that. For instance, we could broaden our perspective with this awareness and be that much gentler in our interactions with others. I also like the unbounded aspect that you shared. I will definitely be reflecting on this. My preliminary thought is that this is at play for me as of late. Thanks again ❤️
You are so welcome, Carl. I always enjoy hearing your reflections and how you are taking the teachings to heart. With love, S
You’ve mentioned, maybe more than once, in this video that you “don’t know whether it’s useful”. YES, your words here (and your book on the Wisdom of a Broken Heart) are useful. I’ve learned a lot from your thoughts & ideas, and I thank you for sharing, and helping me and others.
Thank you, Susan! It is great to hear this. Love, S
Thank you for this
You are very welcome, Bonnie. <3 S
