Hello, Open Heart Project. As I write this, it is just about 8:00 a.m. on January 1. Happy new year! A new day is here. May it be peaceful, loving, and fiercely wise. May 2017 be the best year of your life, exceeded only by 2018…
The focus of this week’s sit is something I think appropriate for a new year: Simplicity.
When it comes to your practice, it is extremely important to approach it…simply. Don’t add or take away any details, just apply the technique and the technique will do the rest.
When it comes to your life, simplicity is equally as powerful. We all face very complex issues, whether personally or societally. Understandably, we tend to speed up in response. Our efforts become increasingly multi-layered. We try this, abandon, it, try that. We work harder and harder. Our thinking gets faster and faster. I applaud you for your intention and commitment! Nonetheless, to act with true wisdom and compassion, it is important to slow down, consider each experience, each insight, each breath, connect honestly with yourself, others, and the environment…and then choose moment-specific and moment-appropriate responses. These moments accrue. At some point, you notice you are on a path and that the path is real, it is yours, you created it, it is leading somewhere, you can trust it—and yourself. These are the gifts of simplicity. Please enjoy.
What in your life could you simplify for 2017? Thoughts, comments? I always love to hear from you.
With love, Susan
