Hello, practitioner and seeker! I hope you are well. In this video, I share a short talk on a semi-obscure teaching called the Seven Riches of the Universal Monarch. If that doesn’t sound obscure, I don’t know what does. In any case! I find this teaching incredibly useful and practical. It lists the 7 things you and I need to feel abundant and powerful in our everyday lives.
Enjoy!
Thoughts? I always love to hear from you. Please comment as you wish. Many thanks.
Love,
Susan

Lovely as ever thank you 🙏
Absolutely game changer to have breath in foreground, very helpful 😌
I know what you mean! <3 s
Susan- it’s been a long journey from Somerville. You were my first buddhist teacher. Im
vajrianna now, totally devoted to Anam Thubten, In Watertown with husband-we downsized to a condo. Spent 8 years volunteering at a suicide hotline and loved it but things change as they do. In poor health which is my path. Still love you and wish you the best.
So great to hear from you–and how wonderful that you study with the great Anam Thubten. He is truly a wonderful teacher. Still love you and wish you the best, too! xo S
What a beautiful teaching, thank you Susan!! Me too, big K drama fan. Do you have any favorites to recommend?
oooh so many! Of course Crash Landing on You is the best, the gateway drug. I liked Itaewon Class. The Glory. My very, very favorite is Light Shop. It’s not exactly a K Drama although it is Korean. It’s one of the most exceptional things I’ve ever seen. Then there is Gyeongseong Creature. Crazy and/or beautifully made. How about you?
I saw and loved loved Crash Landing! I am so excited about all your recommendations, thank you!! Light Shop! Next on my list…

lmk what you think! it takes a few episodes…totally worth it IMO. xoxox
Oh, yes, I can see a book here! What came into my mind as you talked is that these seven “riches” are not only about relationships with others but also relationships with oneself. I recognized long ago that my first husband and I did not really know each other well – we likely didn’t have a good fix on ourselves, either. We loved each other for years, but I would not say that he was an intimate friend on whom I could rely or get good advice, and he was definitely not interested in being my protector.
My current husband of 42 years and I started out as friends, I trusted his wisdom and protection to the point of feeling that it was somehow breathtakingly undeserved. We built a modest life with children, education, jobs, activities, much like the steadily plodding elephants. It hasn’t been flashy or luxurious, but that isn’t who we were or are. Aging and infirmity have shifted things a bit, but we still seek to know each other’s hearts, we protect each other as best we can, and we keep on keepin’ on, like old elephants.
Thank you as always for a meaningful talk.
