7 Qualities of the Dharmic Person: Part 5

Dear Open Heart Project,
I’m so glad to continue sharing with you this series on the 7 Qualities of the Dharmic Person, or Meditator. The first quality, passionlessness, was discussed here. The second, contentment, can be found here. The third, fewer activities, is here and the fourth, good conduct, is here.
Now we look at the fifth quality, awareness of the teacher. Such awareness naturally arises when one encounters wisdom that cuts through habitual patterns to create transformation, inspiration, and wakefulness. Sometimes that wisdom comes from an actual human being/teacher—but other times the “teacher” arises in books, experiences, or even within your own thought processes. In other words, I’m not talking about teacher-worship but about awareness of what or who is actually teaching you.
Thoughts? Always love to hear from you!
Love, Susan

Hi Susan, Beautiful thoughts today and lovely meditation. It reminded me of my mentor talking about being ‘reminded’ of a truth rather than learning something new. It is already within.
Have a good day and thank you! Judith
Lovely!
I always love it when you point out charlatans and cults versus true or trustworthy teachers and teachings. This makes YOU trustworthy.
Charisma schmarisma, indeed.

Big hug!!
I really appreciate this series of teachings. Awareness of the teaching particularly connected with me. I realized that the journal I had been keeping about my studies–whether video or books–was just that. When something clicked or connected, I would write it down because it was a treasure that I didn’t want to forget.
Lovely and sooo comforting 🙏🙏🙏
This “lesson” at this moment was perfect timing.Thank you. I am so enjoying these talks. What you share has turned out to correct and meaningful for me in my winding path on this planet. I don’t take your word for it! 😉 Can’t wait to hear what the next one will bring.
Susan It’s Always a Great Reminder that the Truths We’re Seeking are Generally With In Our Being’s already, and What’s Often Needed is Someone to “Stir The Pot”, so to Speak. Someone to Help Guide us in bringing Up / or Forward, Kindnees, Compassion, Awareness, and What one Might Do to Develop a Mindful Meditation Practice. For Example I’ve Used You, Tara Brach, and Jack Kornfield as ” Mentors” …… Buddhist Studies Often Contain Information that Eaisly Goes Over Peoples Heads, along with a Fair Amount of Duplicity. Having a Mentor Has Been a Huge Help in My Development !!! Namaste
