New Workshop
Cultivating Compassion in Challenging Times: Expanding on the Four Immeasurables with Tonglen and Mudita Practices
with Bridget Bailey Saturday, March 7, 2026 9:00am–1:00pm PT / 12:00pm–4:00pm ET
Some of you may know Bridget from our morning meditations. She is a gifted teacher with a deep understanding of the Four Immeasurables: loving-kindness, compassion, empathetic joy (Mudita), and equanimity.
These four qualities of heart are not just ideals—they are powerful inner capacities we can cultivate to meet a suffering world with love, strength, and clarity.
We are honored to welcome Bridget back for this new workshop, where she’ll guide us deeper into these profound teachings, with a focus on the radical practices of Mudita (sympathetic joy) and Tonglen (compassion—through “giving and taking”).
This 4-hour live course is both an introduction and an invitation to explore Relative Bodhicitta, the courageous commitment to keep our hearts open, even in challenging times. Together, we’ll explore how these practices help us stay engaged without burning out, stay soft without collapsing, and stay wise without disconnecting.
In this workshop, you’ll receive:
- Expanded teachings on the Four Immeasurables, core Buddhist practices to stay open-hearted, courageous, and connected in difficult times
- Two live meditations to embody the four immeasurables:
- Guided Tonglen practice: Learn how to turn toward suffering—your own and others’—without collapsing, and respond with presence rather than reactivity
- Guided Mudita practice: Discover a joy that uplifts without comparing
- Community conversation and connection
