SUMMARY:The 4th Yana: A webinar with Crystal Gandrud
DESCRIPTION:Practice and the Urgency of Art\nMay 13th at 7pm et \nReserve your space here \nAfter twenty-five years of Tibetan Buddhist practice\, Crystal Gandrud has become increasingly interested in what emerges from contemplation of the three yanas\, or vehicles\, of Buddhadharma: creativity itself. \nOver the past several years\, Crystal has been developing an idea that has become central to her work and teaching: that the ultimate flower of meditation is creative power. \n“The path of meditation is creative action. You are a creative being discovering itself. In discovering yourself\, you are discovering the world. The world is creative power.” \nIn recent public talks and conversations\, she has begun referring to this unfolding as the “fourth yana” or “Artyana”: the creative flowering that arises through sustained engagement with practice\, perception\, imagination\, humor\, and lived experience. \nThis free webinar will explore what arises for human beings when we practice the three yanas\, even a little bit\, and how art may function as both practice and fruition. \nThis conversation is open to artists\, secret artists\, the creatively curious\, and non-artists alike. No meditation background or artistic identity is required. Anyone interested in creativity\, consciousness\, contemplative practice\, or the conditions of the present moment is welcome. \nTopics will include: \n\nThe relationship between the three yanas and the “fourth yana”\nCreativity as an extension of contemplative practice\nWhy creative action matters now\nThe role of imagination\, humor\, and artistic inquiry\nArt as both process and fruition\nWhat becomes possible when practice becomes lived expression\n\nWebinar Details\nDate: Wednesday\, May 13Time: 7:00 PM Eastern TimeCost: FreeHosted by: Crystal Gandrud \nReserve Your Seat Here

SUMMARY:Free Info Session: Inexplicable Magic: Meditation for Mystics
DESCRIPTION:Free Info Session\nJune 11th at 7pm et\nRegister here\nMeditation changes us in ways we do not expect. \nWe may begin practice hoping to become less stressed\, more focused\, or more peaceful. And those things may happen. But over time\, many practitioners discover something else unfolding. A greater sense of connection. More compassion. More bravery. A deeper relationship with mystery itself. \nMy new book\, Inexplicable Magic: Meditation for Mystics\, explores these less conventional aspects of meditation practice. In it\, I share seven principles that run counter to much of what we are told meditation is “supposed” to do. \nThis is not about becoming perfect\, transcending your humanity\, or turning into some kind of spiritual wizard. It is about learning to relate to your life\, your mind\, your relationships\, and your world with greater intimacy and awareness. \nOn June 11\, I’ll be offering a free live webinar to explore these seven principles with you and talk more about the ideas behind the book. \nWe’ll discuss:\n• Why ritual matters in meditation practice\n• Why your ego is not the problem\n• How ordinary acts can become part of the spiritual path\n• What meditation may actually awaken in us over time\n• How mystical experience can arise within ordinary life \nI’ll also share more about the writing of the book and answer your questions live. \nI hope you’ll join me. \nAll who register will receive access to the recording\, whether or not you can attend live. \nReserve your spot here. \n

SUMMARY:Sea Change: Transmuting Emotion into Art
DESCRIPTION:Sea Change: Transmuting Emotion into Art\nwith Kevin Townley\nSaturday\, August 8\n12pm–3pm ET \nMeditation helps us become more aware of our inner lives. Along with that clarity often comes a closer encounter with the emotions we would rather avoid. Anger. Jealousy. Craving. Pride. Confusion. These energies are part of being human\, and they shape both our suffering and our creativity. \nIn Vajrayana Buddhism\, these emotions are not obstacles to get past. Through the teaching of the Five Buddha Families\, they become gateways to wisdom. \nIn this workshop\, Kevin Townley will show how meditation and creative practice can work together to turn emotional energy into art. Through meditation\, discussion\, and art-making time\, you’ll look at how the very emotions that seem to block creativity can become its source. \nWhether you write\, paint\, dance\, compose\, bake\, make collages\, or just want to reconnect with your creative impulse\, this workshop offers real tools for bringing more awareness and honesty to your work. \nTopics will include:\n* An introduction to the Five Buddha Families and the Five Wisdom Energies\n* Working with difficult emotions as creative material\n* Turning confusion into wisdom through meditation and art making\n* Creativity as a path of self-knowledge and benefit to others\n* Practical exercises for bringing emotional energy into your creative process \nYou’ll be invited to make something during the workshop in any medium you like. Writing\, drawing\, painting\, movement\, music\, cooking\, collage\, photography\, and more are all welcome. \nNo artistic experience is necessary. This workshop is open to artists\, non-artists\, blocked artists\, meditators\, and anyone curious about how creativity\, emotion\, and spiritual practice fit together. \nWorkshop Details\nDate: Saturday\, August 8\nTime: 12pm to 3pm ET\nHosted by: Kevin Townley \nSliding Scale Pricing – Choose what’s right for you: \n$25  \n$50 \n$108  \n(Support at the highest level helps make scholarships and lower-cost programs available to others.) \nRegister Here\nOne scholarship is available for this workshop.\nPlease apply here by July 29th.\nWe will notify all applicants by August 3rd.
